Dr. Joseph Bugeja graduated B.Ed.(Hons), M.A. (Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies), B.A. (Legal), N.P., LL.D. - University of Malta, Ph.D. (Groningen)

He is a full time Assistant Lecturer within the EU Law Department, Faculty of Laws, University of Malta, with academic interest in Public Procurement Law and Policy, EU Economic Governance, International Economic Law (The law and policies of the World Tarde Organisation), EU Trade Law and Private International Law. 

He was called to the Bar of Malta in 2004. He practices law both in an advisory capacity and pleads in court audiences at the Maltese Courts of Justice, including the areas of civil law, administrative law, constitutional law, property law, family law and commercial law.

Phyllisienne earned her Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Malta in 2020, followed by a Master of Advocacy (M.Adv) (Melit) in 2021 from the same institution. She was admitted to the Bar in Malta in September 2022.​ In 2025, she was awarded a Master of Arts in Matrimonial Canon Law and Jurisprudence (MCLJ) (Melit) with distinction, granting her the warrant to plead before the Metropolitan Tribunal.

Her legal practice primarily focuses on Civil Law, Property Law, and Civil Litigation. She is also active in Family Law, Mediation, Debt Recovery, and Condominium Law. Additionally, Phyllisienne is qualified to assist in marriage annulment proceedings before the Metropolitan Tribunal.

Marylyn obtained her Bachelors (Honours) at the University of Malta in 2020, and as part of her Bachelors degree, she also published her dissertation entitled ‘Child Abuse and the Movement towards a Child Friendly Justice System, with particular focus on the draft Minor Protection (Alternative Care) Act 2019’.

Subsequently she completed her Masters of Advocacy (M.Adv) (Melit) at the University of Malta in 2021, following which she was admitted to the bar to practice as a lawyer in Malta in September 2022.

Over the years, Marylyn has gained experience in various areas of law, including Employment Law, Civil Law, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Public Procurement, and Whistleblowing Law. In addition to her legal practice, Marylyn has also delivered lectures on Employment Law.
